Odessa Archaeological Museum

Odessa archaeological Museum is one of the oldest in Ukraine. It is located in a magnificent building built in the country style in the middle of the XIX century, in the heart of Odessa. Thanks to the incredibly rich collection of unique antiquities archaeological Museum is a real treasure, a priceless cultural heritage, and is among the top ten most visited sights of South Palmyra.

It began its history in 1825 as the city Museum of antiquities. Excavations of the ancient settlement in modern Primorye

Vladivostok archaeologists go in Hasansky district for excavation of the settlement of I Millennium BC, in which for the first time in modern Primorye was found a workshop of metal working of that time, announced head of the Department of prehistoric archaeology, Institute of history, archaeology and Ethnography of the peoples of the Far East far Eastern branch of Russian Academy of Sciences Nikolay Klyuyev.

“The expedition which sent 30 people to the village of Barabash Khasan district for the excavation of the settlements of the early iron age for the fourth time. The settlement represents Yankovskaya archaeological culture. One of its distinctive features is the use in food of marine molluscs. In support of this are the piles of shells, found by archaeologists near dwellings” – said the Agency interlocutor.

According to him, in the studied nine major settlement in dug-outs lived to 150 people. Over the past three years, archaeologists have unearthed two dwellings, it is expected that this time the researchers the “master” one. According to the findings, residents of the settlement except the clams fished, practiced agriculture and cattle breeding. “Last year it was discovered that in addition to the “classic” practice of the people of arheologicheskogo jankovska, the ancient inhabitants Barabash was also involved in Metalworking.
