Odessa Archaeological Museum

Odessa archaeological Museum is one of the oldest in Ukraine. It is located in a magnificent building built in the country style in the middle of the XIX century, in the heart of Odessa. Thanks to the incredibly rich collection of unique antiquities archaeological Museum is a real treasure, a priceless cultural heritage, and is among the top ten most visited sights of South Palmyra.

It began its history in 1825 as the city Museum of antiquities. The core of its collection became a private collection of ancient books and archaeological objects, which the city passed local philanthropist Ivan Blaramberh, who actively participated in the creation of the Museum. Further development required archaeological Museum of the Odessa society of history and antiquities, through which its funds have been considerably increased original artifacts of the past.

The Museum’s collection, numbering about 170 thousand exhibits, is set in ten themed rooms, located on two floors. It consists of valuable monuments of history and culture of the Northern black sea, ancient Greece and Ancient Rome, as well as antiquities from Cyprus and Egypt. The Israelis dug up the history of the green

The results of archaeological excavations of settlements from the Neolithic period on the territory of modern Israel was published in the journal PNAS.

Jewelry is as old as the world itself. For example, we already wrote about the oldest known artifacts, also found in the middle East – their age is estimated at up to 135 thousand years.

At different times of the jewelry carried a variety of meanings, but originally probably served primarily a sacral function.

In St. Petersburg will present the findings of archaeological expeditions in the history of Russia

Moscow, April 15. St. Petersburg archaeologists will present the finds of the expeditions of 2014, providing new evidence about the history of different regions of Russia and Asia. As reported TASS, the results of the field studies conducted in St. Petersburg, the Crimea, Tuva, Kola Peninsula, Turkmenistan will be considered at the enlarged meeting of the academic Council of the Institute of history of material culture (IIMK), ran, the newspaper reports “Kryminform “.

“The geography of research was very wide – from Tuva to Vyborg, the Kola Peninsula and the Krasnodar territory and on the territory of other States,” said TASS Deputy Director of the Institute Natalia Solovieva. – Besides fundamental research, the Institute carried out work on 42 contracts for conducting security-saving actions in the areas of economic development of Russia”.

At the meeting of the Academic Council archaeologists will also present the research plans, which in 2015 will be held in Crimea, the site of a unique underwater monument – sunken ancient city of AKRA, which is also called the “Crimean Atlantis”.
